Whether you’re collecting non-perishable food items, serving meals at a homeless shelter, or delivering Easter baskets to kids that need a smile, it’s our mission to see the local community and those in it thrive.

FOCUS AREA: Homelessness

VISION:  To provide homeless individuals and families with support services, connection and care, reflecting God’s love and an opening a window of opportunity that can transform lives beyond measure.

Service Opportunity #1: Meal Provider
When: Bi-weekly Saturdays
Where: Eleanor Kennedy Shelter,  Alexandria, VA
Tasks: Provide, prepare, serve breakfast to the residents
Commitment Required: 7:45 am-9:30 am

Service Opportunity #2: Employment and Education Resource Center (EERC) Assistant
When: 7 days a week; 9 am-12 pm, 3 pm-6 pm, and 6 pm-9 pm (additional time slot of 12 pm-3 pm available on weekends)
Where: Eleanor Kennedy Shelter,  Alexandria, VA
Tasks: Help the residents one-on-one by assisting them with job and housing searches, resume assistance, and mock interviews.
Commitment Required: Flexible, but once a week is preferable. Orientation required.

FOCUS AREA: Childhood Hunger
TEAM LEADER: Valerie Villegas and Mark Percosky, valeegrl.in.va@gmail.com
VISION: To partner with local groups, organizations, and individuals, and help address the immediate food needs of children and families in the community.

Service Opportunity #1: Blessings in a Backpack (Groveton Elementary School)
When: Food collection (Sundays, ongoing); Food packing (Sundays, bi-weekly)
Where: Capital City Church KT
Tasks: Collect and pack food to be delivered to school children in Blessings in a Backpack program.
Commitment Required: One hour/bi-weekly

FOCUS AREA:  Marginalized Women and Girls
TEAM LEADER: Holly Neyland, hollyneyland24@gmail.com
VISION: To guide, mentor, and help care for disenfranchised women and girls in the community.

Service Opportunity #1: Naomi Project
When: Training sessions are held twice a year for the year-long, one-on-one mentorship program.
Where: Varies
Tasks: This mentoring program matches high-risk pregnant women and new mothers with trained volunteers who are committed to encouraging healthy pregnancies, foster parenting skills and to help them productively plan for their futures. Many of the mentees experience for the first time a caring adult focusing specifically on them.
Commitment Required:  once per week contact (need not always be in person)

FOCUS AREA:  Prison and Families of Incarcerated Ministry
TEAM LEADER: Holly Neyland, hollyneyland24@gmail.com
VISION: To provide ministry and support to inmates and children with incarcerated parents, meanwhile connecting them with God.

Service Opportunity #1: Angel Tree Camping
When: Summer
Where: TBA
Tasks: Sponsor an Angel Tree child (whose parent/s are incarcerated) by helping their caregivers sign them up for an approved Christian summer camp; supply campers with basic camp necessities; organize a summer camp gift drive.

Service Opportunity #2: Inmate Bible study/Life Group/Prayer/Re-entry Support
